Jane’s practice is focused on complex public law cases. She has substantial experience in cases involving issues such as non-accidental injuries, sexual abuse and neglect. She also deals with public interest immunity matters and represents local authorities, extended family members, parents and guardians. Jane was appointed Assistant Deputy Coroner of Nottinghamshire in 2012.

Recent cases

Represented an intervenor in a 40 day Fact Finding hearing within care proceedings. The Local Authority sought findings in respect of serious allegations of sexual abuse against a 15 year old child, several years before. Jane was initially led in this case by a Silk, however, within days the findings sought against her client were amended and she continued to represent the client alone.

Professional background

Jane graduated in Law from Sheffield Hallam University in 2000 and was called to the Bar in 2001. Between 2002 and 2003 she worked in the Child Care Legal Department at Nottingham City Council. She became a tenant at St. Mary’s Chambers in 2004 following successful completion of a specialist family law pupillage.
