Gail is an experienced all round family law practitioner who regularly undertakes a range of complex matters including financial matters involving pensions, properties and trusts.
In addition, Gail also has expertise in public law children cases, including a recent eight-week case involving serious allegations of abuse. She regularly represents parents, local authorities, children’s guardians and the Official Solicitor, as well as working with the Court of Protection and making representation at the Coroner’s Court. Gail is a former solicitor with Higher Rights, and has specialised in family law since 2001. Gail also undertakes work through Rocket Lawyer.

Gail recently represented a mother at an inquest where concerns were raised over the police investigation following the death of her son.
She also recently represented a wife in financial proceedings where the issue was the division of the husband's extensive pension provision.
Another case saw Gail represent a husband in financial proceedings where the wife was unable to account for approximately £100,000 in cash previously within her control.
She also represented a minor in proceedings seeking to oppose the adoption of a sibling. This involved complex issues regarding ongoing contact.
Gail has recently been involved in a complicated court of protection case which involved multiple parties with a legal argument regarding designation of a local authority
In a recent high profile case Gail represented a local authority at inquest following the death of a patient at a mental health unit after she was permitted to leave the ward unsupervised for a cigarette.

Gail started her legal career in 1992 as a trainee legal executive for a large Hull firm of solicitors, gaining experience in a wide variety of civil law disputes. She qualified as a legal executive in 1997, before becoming a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives in 1999.
In 2004, Gail qualified as a solicitor and subsequently obtained Higher Rights (all issues) in 2006. She has practised predominantly in Hull and East Yorkshire, specialising in family law since 2001. Gail was admitted to the Law Society Children Panel before transferring to the Bar and joining St. Mary’s Chambers in 2011.
