Chris deals with all aspects of children law but predominantely Public Law cases. These often include issues of neglect, serious physical or sexual abuse, drug and alcohol addiction, factitious illness and complex care planning issues where children require "better that good enough" parenting. Within Private Law proceedings he is regularly instructed by parents and grandparents.
Chris has a particular interest and enthusiasm for representing Guardians pursuant to FPR Rule 16.4, in what can often be difficult cases, frequently involving litigants in person.
Graduated from Sheffield in 2005 (first class LLB Honours) and completed the Bar Vocational Course in 2007, graded Outstanding. Chris spent a year volunteering in Mumbai giving legal advice to a human trafficking and sexual exploitation NGO. He completed pupillage at KCH Garden Square in 2009. He has been exclusively practising in cases concerning children since 2010, and joined St. Mary’s Chambers in 2014.
